Dear Members
Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening Firstly, thank you for taking the time in responding with information or reporting theft of hub caps and manufacturing badges. This helps us identify crime patterns and potential lines of enquiry. The team have been scouring CCTV footage, carrying out extensive house to house enquiries and conducting extra patrols. Investigations are ongoing but simple mechanical deterrents and smart parking can help stop this type of theft.
Arrests On Friday morning a driver decided to make a run it from the car he had just crashed. After a short foot chase, the male was returned to the scene and taken to the floor. He was arrested for drink driving. Three bags of cannabis and tablets were found during a search of his vehicle so he was further arrested for possession of class B and C. In the early hours of Saturday, following a call of persons with bolt croppers trying to steal a motorbike, response officers contained the area. Two males were arrested for attempted theft of a vehicle and after a body search, one was further arrested for possession of cannabis.
Roads Policing have also been out and about in the area. ANPR alerted them to a vehicle where a pursuit ensued. The stinger was deployed and the chase came to an end in Bedworth. The vehicle turned out to be on false plates. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) | West Midlands Police
Petrol Theft The team have also been seizing vehicles used to commit crime. A registered keeper received a surprise visit following the theft of fuel from not one but two petrol stations a few days apart. Whilst in attendance, it was discovered that another vehicle belonging to the keeper was showing SORN and parked on the road. Seizing not one but two vehicles, we hope they learnt a rather expensive lesson and should have just paid for their fuel to begin with.
Awareness We have been made aware that a local resident has received a scam call from someone purporting to be a Detective Constable from the MET, stating that their granddaughter was in custody and they needed bank details. The resident does not have a granddaughter! Real officers will never ask you to transfer funds, withdraw cash or hand your bank card to a courier. Force News The Force’s Mounted Unit have moved from temporary stables in Solihull to their new permanent stables at Tally Ho. Their relocation means they are right in the centre of the force area, making it easier to deploy to communities across the West Midlands. You can follow the horses on Instagram https://orlo.uk/nzxq5
Crime figures Over the past nine days, there have been one report of a theft from a vehicle on HOLBROOK LANE (number plates) and theft of a vehicle from ST LUKES ROAD (VW Golf).
Over the same period, two residential burglaries have occurred on PARKGATE ROAD (suspect arrested) and YELLOWSTONE CLOSE.
